A Clearing in the Wilderness; the Ocllo S. Malone Lobby, Alabama Department of Archives and History, Montgomery, Alabama

We take our cues from the masters of Art, Architecture and Design, and speak with our own voice.

The mural cycle begins with an ancient forest landscape, in an elliptical space that also features the building’s original entrance doors–which have their own storyboard panels of the state’s history. This forest is punctuated with ceiling coffers of distinctive flora and collage-like wall panels presenting Civil Rights, Government, Military, Commerce, Cultivation, Industry, Sports, Recreation, Arts, Religion and Education.
