Tuscan Inspired Villa, Nashville, Tennessee

Sometimes, a mural is the focus of a room. Other times, it is the backdrop for those who occupy it. Ultimately, it is the room.

Situated in the rolling hills that surround this well known city, this McAlpine masterpiece features a 60-foot long salone grande, that opens onto a cloistered garden on one side, and a wooded balcony view on the other. Running all the way round, from end to end, up and over doorways and windows, the mural, which features Italian Renaissance elements mingled with voluptuous ramblings of acanthus leaves, is like the skin of the room; having distinct moments within a space-time continuum.
